STOP PRESS!    Open Day - Saturday 3 July 2010

On Saturday 3 July, as part of the Guildford Summer Festival, Abbot’s Hospital will open its main doors from 10.00am – 3.00pm to allow the whole town to enjoy Abbot’s legacy; to meet 21st and 17th century residents, to visit beautiful original rooms and enjoy home-made refreshments in the courtyard.  £3 per person, £5 per family (under 16s free).  All proceeds to Abbot’s Hospital.

The Governors recognise that many societies, heritage and community groups would welcome
the opportunity to tour this unique site.

The guided tours can be tailored to particular interests, and can include:

The UPPER COURT, the original Jacobean quadrangle; the GATEHOUSE & TOWER,
including the Presence Chamber and the Monmouth Room; the CHAPEL, with its
superb stained glass windows; the GUESTEN HALL, approached via a wide Jacobean
staircase; the COMMON HALL, originally used as a sitting and dining area by residents;
FURNITURE, CLOCKS & PAINTINGS, including many original tables, chairs and doors
from the Jacobean period.

NB The Guesten Hall, one of original communal rooms, is available for hire for seminars
       and receptions. Contact The Master by email or on 01483 455591

Tours can be arranged for any day of the week, except Sunday. If you would like to make a
booking, please contact:
